CITY KÜCHEN Berlin owner David Ruder and Art Director Carlos Estevez attended Milan Design Week 2026 to discover the latest innovations and trends in kitchen design. Design Week once again provided important impetus for the international design scene.
During their visit, they also met with CITY KÜCHEN's official partners, including Leicht Küchen, Bora and Gaggenau, and learned about new materials, technologies and future-oriented kitchen concepts.

„Be the Project“ - Thats the motto of Fuorisalone 2026 is "Create a New World" and carries two meanings: Firstly, the human being as an active shaper of change with visions, desires and responsibilities, and secondly, the project, design as a constantly evolving process that shapes and redesigns the relationships between people, objects and the environment.
- Human-centered evolution: Individual responsibility and vision are at the heart of every creative act.
- Design as a process: We celebrate the journey of experimentation, including the “emerging imperfections” and mistakes that lead to true innovation.
- Relational Design: We focus on how design shapes the evolving connections between people, objects and their environment.
- Active engagement: From passive consumption to active participation in the systems that determine our future.
„Be the Project“ It represents a new design approach – moving away from passive consumption towards active participation. Experiments, mistakes, and so-called "flourishing imperfections" were consciously understood as part of genuine innovation. At the same time, the relationship between people, objects, and their environment moved more into focus, which plays an increasingly important role, especially in modern kitchen design.
For David Ruder and Carlos Estevez, Milan Design Week was a valuable source of inspiration. The impressions gained are directly incorporated into future projects. The goal is to design kitchens that are not only functional but also inspiring as individual living spaces.

Impressions from Design Week 2026

Gaggenau revealed the essential through its presence – and nothing beyond. A space where what was lasting endured and what was superfluous disappeared.
At Villa Necchi Campiglio – a rare oasis of tranquility in the heart of Milan, characterized by balance and precision – this idea took the form of a path that directed attention inwards. Light and structure sharpened perception; every detail was carefully considered, every element consciously chosen.
Gaggenau invited people to experience, without explanations, what makes the brand special.

As part of Milan Design Week 2026, we will be presenting our work in the light-filled orangery of the Museo Poldi Pezzoli. Under the title "Art is now," we are creating a space that deliberately sets itself apart from the pace of the city, offering room for a focused exploration of kitchen architecture, exquisite materials, and extravagant design. When the kitchen becomes an exhibit and a work of art in space, we will be staging "Rosso Lepanto" at the Museo Poldi Pezzoli.
